Gather the ingredients including self-rising flour, cold butter (cut into small cubes), and milk.
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
In a large bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour.
Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour. Use a pastry cutter, fork, or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add the milk to the flour mixture, stirring with a fork or wooden spoon until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it holds together.
Use a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass to cut out biscuits from the dough. Place the cut biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top and cooked through.
