1. Prepare the Chicken

Start by patting dry the chicken breasts with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. This helps the seasoning stick better and promotes even browning.

2. Season with Lemon Pepper

Generously season both sides of the chicken breasts with lemon pepper seasoning. You can use store-bought lemon pepper seasoning or make your own by combining lemon zest, black pepper, salt, and optionally other herbs like garlic powder or thyme.

Preheat a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil or melt a bit of butter in the pan to prevent the chicken from sticking.

4. Sear the Chicken

Once the pan is hot, add the seasoned chicken breasts to the pan, presentation-side down (the smoother side facing down). Sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

5. Add Lemon Juice

Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the chicken breasts while they're cooking in the pan. The acidity of the lemon juice adds brightness and enhances the flavor of the dish.

6. Add Aromatics (Optional)

For extra flavor, you can add minced garlic, shallots, or fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary to the pan while the chicken is cooking. These aromatics infuse the chicken with additional layers of flavor.

7. Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken breasts. They should register at least 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part to ensure they are fully cooked.

8. Rest and Serve

Once cooked through, remove the chicken breasts from the pan and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing or serving. This allows the juices to redistribute and ensures juicy and tender chicken. Serve with your favorite sides, such as steamed vegetables or rice.
