Collect 1 ripe banana (frozen or fresh), 1/2 cup of coconut milk (or any milk of your choice), 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/4 cup of shredded coconut (unsweetened), 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup (optional for added sweetness), and toppings of your choice such as sliced banana, berries, granola, nuts, seeds, or additional shredded coconut.
In a blender, combine the ripe banana, coconut milk, cocoa powder, shredded coconut, and honey or maple syrup if using. Blend until smooth and creamy. You can adjust the consistency by adding more coconut milk if necessary.
While the smoothie base is blending, prepare your desired toppings. Chop fresh fruits, measure out granola or nuts, and set aside.
Once the smoothie base is smooth and creamy, pour it into individual serving bowls.
Sprinkle your chosen toppings over the smoothie bowl. Get creative and arrange them in an attractive pattern if desired.
For additional sweetness or flavor, drizzle a small amount of honey or nut butter over the top of the smoothie bowl.
For added texture and nutrition, you can also sprinkle with chia seeds, hemp seeds, or cacao nibs.
Serve your chocolate coconut smoothie bowl immediately and enjoy it with a spoon. It's best enjoyed fresh before the toppings begin to soften.
